Q: What banking/credit card services are available in Curitiba?
A: You can open a bank account quite easily. Before you open an account find out which Bank and branch is the most convenient for the university you will be studying at. There is a HSBC branch on campus. There is a Bank machine on campus where you can withdraw cash in Brazilian Reais from your account in your home country using one of the international systems such as CIRRUS or MAESTRO.
Banks are also the best place to exchange cash, you just need your passport. Most shops, including supermarkets, accept international credit cards and charge cards.
