Since 2010, the Graduate Program in Industrial Biotechnology at Universidade Positivo (PPGBiotec) has trained more than 120 professionals from various backgrounds, including entrepreneurs, faculty members, and self-employed professionals such as physicians, physiotherapists, dentists, and engineers. Students in the PPGBiotec program come from all regions of Brazil and return to their hometowns to apply the knowledge acquired through the program to foster regional development.
As a professional master’s and doctoral program, PPGBiotec is frequently sought after by representatives from the productive sector and research institutes interested in developing and validating innovative products and processes that can generate short-term socioeconomic impact. The program also aims to train highly qualified professionals who use scientific research as a tool for innovation in both public and private enterprises.
In addition, the program has implemented several initiatives focused on promoting entrepreneurship, encouraging the creation of startups, and supporting the integration of alumni into the job market, particularly within innovative companies.
It is important to highlight that numerous projects developed by faculty and students of PPGBiotec have had significant social and economic impact. These results arise both from research conducted as part of master’s and doctoral projects and from activities within course disciplines and community outreach initiatives, which are integrated with various sectors of society.
